Entry requirements: A current Powerboat Handling Certificate and a high level of experience in powerboat handling.  Some experience of small boat sailing or windsurfing will be advantage for anyone wishing to deliver the safety boat course.  Instructors should ideally have experience in manoeuvring both planing, and displacement hulls.

Yachting Australia Shorebased Instructors Course

 

Dates: 12th – 13th December 2009

 

Course outline:

This course is for all interested Sailing Instructors and Coaches. The course will provide you with all the theory component knowledge and prepare you for your practical assessment. The course is recommended for all interested coaches and instructors who volunteer/work at clubs, parents who want to help their children, sailors who want to get involved in returning to the sport or just to help their own sailing and people interested in working as a sailing coach.

Yachting Australia Safety Boat Course

 

Dates: 21st – 22nd November 2009

 

 

This course is designed to inform people on how to correctly handle and manoeuvre a safety or coach boat. The course is  strongly recommended for race committee members, safety boat drivers, coaches and instructors and any interested parties. The Safety Boat Certificate is a pre-requisite for the YA Instructors Qualification.  

 

 

 

Dates: 5th – 6th December 2009

 

Course Outline:

This seminar provides you with all the current information required to gain a Race Officer Qualification under the new YA National Officiating Program. The course is recommended for all interested race officers, course layers, safety boat drivers, starters and finishers. The course is also very useful for sailors wanting to gain an understanding on what and how the race officers are doing and for protest committee members.

Course outcome: Qualified to instruct at level of own qualification (Powerboat Handling and/or Safety Boat) including YA certificate.

Course outline: A weekend course in the delivery of the National Powerboat Scheme focussed on developing best practice in delivery of training.  Potential instructors will be taught methods of instruction for both theory and practical sessions, with classroom, on-water and night navigation sessions.  The course will include sessions on learning styles, briefing/debriefing techniques, course planning and safety management.
